Cleaning out the muck

After several edits of Troubleshot, a critique, copy-edit and comments from readers, I thought I was done with the editing. But I’ve spent the past several days going through suggestions from Grammarly – and have picked up a whole host of things.

Missing words, extraneous words, poor sentence structure, missing commas, too many commas – all sorts. It feels a bit of a chore, but the writing is definitely stronger after it. I’m walking a fine line, though, as many of the comments relate to style, and were I to change them all, the tone would be completely bland. So, the final produce will definitely include words that don’t need to be there – and my word count will not have dropped from 90k to 50k. Phew!
